Venting Solution Types

Vented Liner

Vented Liner

Vented liners are designed to provide bi-directional venting of containers without leaking. Selig’s patented Circumvent™ foam liner and AirFoil™ induction liner capabilities are fully customizable to meet a myriad of product formulations and applications.

Closure-Venting-Type

Closure Venting

Closure Venting

By integrating various microporous membranes that provide bi-directional venting directly into closures or components, Selig can convert virtually any closure or component to a vented format–including those that do not utilize traditional foam and/or induction foil liners.

Press-Fit Vents

Press-Fit-Vents

Press-fit vents are injection-molded components that contain a microporous membrane to provide bi-directional venting of containers without leaking. Known by the trade name PreVentor™, press-fit vents can be easily inserted into specially adapted closures.

Vented Gaskets

Vented Gaskets

Vented gaskets can be customized to be incorporated into trigger sprayers, pumps, and other dispensing or specialty closures to provide bi-directional, non-leaking venting.

Custom Vent Solutions

Custom Vent Solutions

Selig’s Solution Development Engineers can work with your team to design, prototype, sample, and test custom venting solutions that meet both the technical and economic needs of your packaging application.

Breathability is the Answer

Global trends such as the calls for sustainable packaging, natural ingredients, shelf-space contraction, rising shipping costs, and consumer expectations are placing demands all across the supply chain.

The emergence and confluence of these trends are increasing the likelihood that there will be physical or chemical reactions during the concept-to-customer chain that make packages expand or contract. Either of these conditions compromises product, package, and brand integrity.

The solution for many of the challenges brands face is breathability through use of Selig’s venting technology. Allowing containers to breathe without leaking eliminates unwanted container distortion and does so in the most cost-efficient way possible. Selig’s line of container venting products allow the equalization of pressure inside and outside of the container.

Prevent Bloating and Paneling

Household, industrial, and commercial products containing bleach, peroxide, or other off-gassing ingredients can cause containers to swell or bloat. Other products containing surfactants, solvents, or essential oils can cause containers to collapse or panel due to oxygen scavenging or product migration. In addition, fluctuations in temperature and altitude during shipping or storage can accelerate unwanted container distortion. The impact of bloating and paneling for a brand or product owner is profound and includes:

• Loss of revenue due to unsellable product
• Poor consumer perception
• Compromised brand value

Selig’s wide range of Container Venting solutions provides brand owners with unique and cost-effective ways to solve challenging container distortion issues. Furthermore, venting can remove the limitations that have historically prevented formulators from using the most effective ingredients at optimal or increased concentrations. Venting also eliminates issues commonly experienced with shipping and warehousing. All of this while simultaneously allowing companies to reduce costs, improve the consumer experience, and achieve important sustainability goals and objectives.
